I'm still figuring it out, but one thing I know for certain is I love music and I'm so grateful for all the gifts it has brought to my life. In May 2011, I took a huge leap of faith and moved from Iowa down to Austin for a year, to study at Rubicon Artist Development and make my first EP. This post and the video below are a good little introduction to that story:

    About Me

    Ask me anything
I probably look like an American Tourister, what with my ginourmous blue suitcase & a backpack on my back, waiting for the bus.
But really what’s going on is I’m treating myself to an afternoon at the laundromat.
That probably sounds a little silly, I’m not sure how many people I know would consider going to the laundromat a treat. I’m sure though that there are plenty of folks who would not only feel blessed to have clean clothes, but machines to do the washing for them!  Still, I can’t help but miss my washing machine at home, which is right on the top floor, super easy access!
There IS a laundromat in our apartment complex. I actually even filled my laundry card on Saturday, and I was feeling lucky for the warm weather that was letting me get away with tank tops & buy a few more days before reaaaally running out of clean clothes, but here it is Thursday and it was time.
I’d managed to get the clothes in my laundry bag, but it had been sitting by my door for a couple of days.  I had a couple other errands I needed to run as well that weren’t happening.
My roommate had just done her laundry at a laundromat a couple days ago.  She said the place had wi-fi, and it was a a location I could easily get to by bus.  I remembered the last time I washed my clothes in a big commercial machine they seemed to get cleaner than the little ones in our apartment complex.  I realized that right next to the laundromat was the bank and the grocery store so I could knock out a few of my errands as well.
So yeah, it’s costing me a little bit more than the apartment complex, but I’m getting more stuff done, getting cleaner clothes and also getting out of the house, which is always good for a change of pace and shifting my focus.  Instead of paying for a cup of coffee, which only lasts a few hours at most, I’m getting my clothes, towels and sheets all washed, which will last me a couple weeks!  I’m sure I’ll use the apartment laundromat again and use the money on the card then, so it won’t go to waste.  I think I’ve got wins all the way around. :-)
I’ve also got a whole lot of song-reviewing to do (34 songs! Listen to and download them here, but if you download, please do the whole album in one go so we don’t run out of the download allowances!) as a judge for SpinTunes, and I’m hoping to knock out a bunch while I wait for my clothes to dry!
