Heather Miller Music

I'm still figuring it out, but one thing I know for certain is I love music and I'm so grateful for all the gifts it has brought to my life. In May 2011, I took a huge leap of faith and moved from Iowa down to Austin for a year, to study at Rubicon Artist Development and make my first EP. This post and the video below are a good little introduction to that story:

    Doing It Right: Jonathan Byrd

Jonathan Byrd is a kickass songwriter with a wicked sense of humor.  I always, always open his emails even if he’s not touring anywhere near me because he writes these killer welcome/unsubscribe messages at the beginning and usually ends with some great road story after posting his tour dates.  Talk about someone doing it right.  The one today inspired me enough to post it for you below:

You’re receiving this email because you joined my email list online or at a show. A “show” is a new idea in social networking, where you go out and spend time with other people, in the same room, without computers and cell phones. There’s no login or password, and the experience is automatically “shared” with everyone present. The Show will be stored on your internal hard drive, where you can recall it in super high-def as long as you live.

Go sign up for his emails yourself: http://www.jonathanbyrd.com/

While you’re there, buy some of his music, it’s transformational.  Hard to say which album is best, but here are a couple of my personal favorites of his songs:

    Ballad of Larry: http://youtu.be/Le5ztJM0ikc
    Prairie Girl: http://youtu.be/Mo1n8rpwYao
